Journalists choose a team of ‘Flops’ of the season and include 3 Newcastle players – Strange choices

Three Newcastle players have been selected when a newspaper put together a team of ‘flops’ from the Premier League season so far.

Some strange choices…

Picking a first eleven and then seven on the bench, The Mail named the NUFC trio amongst the alleged flops.

In the team, they have chosen Isaac Hayden.

That is Isaac Hayden who has been one of our best players this season.

Seemingly only selected because he got sent off in his last game.

It gets worse/better, as they have Martin Dubravka on the flops bench.

No Premier League keeper has had more clean sheets than Dubravka this season…I wish we could have a few more flops in the Newcastle team!

Also on this flops bench is Miguel Almiron. I accept you can make a case for him but it has been difficult for Newcastle’s forward players this season, with Steve Bruce employing such negative tactics and formation.

Here below is their reasoning for Hayden’s selection and the full team and bench they chose:

ISAAC HAYDEN

‘Isaac Hayden was rightly sent off against Leicester for a horrific foul on Dennis Praet.

The tackle itself and indignant protest that followed were disrespectful towards both Praet and referee Craig Pawson.

The Belgian was fortunate to avoid a broken leg. Hayden remains suspended and Matty Longstaff is making the most of his opportunity in the Newcastle midfield.’

‘Sportsmail’s flops of the season so far’:

DARYL JANMAAT

JAN BEDNAREK

GRANT HANLEY

NICOLAS OTAMENDI

JESSE LINGARD

GRANIT XHAKA

FRED

ISAAC HAYDEN

NICOLAS PEPE
