David De Gea brutal honesty after asked what Manchester United need to improve after Newcastle defeat

Twenty months ago, David De Gea was beaten by Matt Ritchie.

Martin Dubravka making his NUFC debut and Ritchie scoring the only goal of the game as Newcastle beat Man Utd.

Moving forward to October 2019 and this was Dubravka’s 58th Premier League game in a row…and another clean sheet against Manchester United.

A satisfying return for the Slovakian number one as he and the team bounced back from the horror show at Leicester.

For David De Gea though, it was a very different story.

Although he was one of the very few Man Utd players to do themselves justice, he watched on as his team dropped to 12th, only two points above the relegation zone and one point ahead of Newcastle.

David De Gea interviewed by Sky Sports after Newcastle defeat and asked what Manchester United need to improve:

“Everything.

“A lot of things [need] to improve.

“I don’t know what to say.

“Keep trying, keep fighting, improving every day.

“It is a hard moment for us.

“The most difficult time since I have been here.

“I don’t know why this is happening…

“Sorry to the fans.

“We will keep fighting.

“Come on…we conceded a goal from a [Newcastle United] comer.

“That cannot happen.

“It is unacceptable.”
