Ayoze Perez scored on 12 May 2019 for Newcastle United.

In what proved to be his (and Rafa’s and Rondon’s) final NUFC match, Perez scored the second goal as Newcastle romped to a 4-0 away victory at Fulham on the final day of the 2018/19 season.

His best season so far, Ayoze Perez ending the season with 12 PL goals, his best total so far.

Indeed, he ended the season in scintillating form, Rafa Benitez putting together an excellent attacking trio with Rondon and Almiron, Ayoze Perez scoring nine times in his final 12 NUFC games.

Leicester City came in and paid £30m to take Ayoze Perez away this summer.

Yet whilst Leicester have made a very good start to the season, the former NUFC striker has struggled.

Starting seven of the opening 11 games (all competitions), he is/was still without a goal.

However, all that has changed on Friday night.

Leicester have travelled to Southampton and gone goal crazy.

Chilwell opening the scoring after only 10 minutes, then Bertrand sent off for the Saints.

Tielemans making it 2-0 on 17 minutes, before the big moment. With 19 minutes gone, Ayoze Perez making it 3-0 with an excellent finish and at the same time demoting Southampton to third bottom and rocketing NUFC out of the relegation zone.

Even better, another excellent finish from Ayoze Perez made it 4-0, with Jamie Vardy adding a fifth to make it 5-0 to the away side at the break. Leicester/Perez ensuring Newcastle go into Saturday OUT of the relegation zone and Leicester second top (Newcastle fans grateful for small mercies!).

***Update – The final score was Southampton 0 Leicester 9, Ayoze Perez completing his hat-trick on 57 minutes, Jamie Vardy also getting three.
