Arnold Schwarzenegger predicts Wolves will beat Newcastle United
Arnold Schwarzenegger has forecast a Wolves away win on Sunday.
His prediction being a 1-0 defeat for Steve Bruce’s team.
The film star is the guest of BBC Sport this week going up against ‘football expert’ Mark Lawrenson in predicting this weekend’s Premier League results.
Mark Lawrenson actually goes for a 2-1 Newcastle win to get the Magpies out of the relegation zone.
His logic doesn’t hold up all that well though.
Lawrenson pointing to the Wolves results after European games this season.
The BBC Sport pundit saying that beating Manchester City at the start of October is the only time they have won after playing in Europe a few days beforehand.
With statistics there is often a number of ways of using them and sure enough, Mark Lawrenson could have instead/also said that Wolves have only lost once (3-2 at Everton) in six PL games this season after playing in Europe.
The only statistic that matters of course is that Newcastle win on Sunday, so let’s hope Lawrenson has called that one right.
Mark Lawrenson talking to BBC Sport:
“Wolves had not won any of their first four games on a Sunday this season.
“Then they went and won at Manchester City after their longest trip in the Europa League, to Turkey to play Besiktas.
“They go to Slovakia before they go to St James’ Park, where they grabbed a controversial late win against 10 men on their last visit, in December 2018.
“Newcastle owe them one, and I think they will come out on top here – just.
“Prediction is Newcastle 2 Wolves 1.”
