Allan Saint-Maximin dedicates Sunday’s victory over Manchester United

Allan Saint-Maximin has been speaking about beating Manchester United.

The 22 year old saying ‘We worked very, very hard and we won a great game against a great team. I can only be happy.’

The winger played the first 83 minutes before being subbed for Christian Atsu and played a key part in the winning goal.

On top of that though he was what Newcastle have desperately missed, the wildcard who is quick and willing to take his man on, something which unsettled Man Utd.

Allan Saint-Maximin say though it was a great team effort all round on Sunday and dedicated the win: ‘I love the fans – that win was for them!’

Stats can be deceptive but at the moment they say Newcastle have picked up seven point in the four games ASM has been involved in and only one point in the four where he was missing from the squad.

That is a bit deceptive because ASM only lasted 17 minutes when starting the win at Spurs, after Steve Bruce brought him back far too early, only 48 hours after returning to full training.

However, certainly in his other three appearances (Man Utd, Arsenal and Brighton), Newcastle have looked a far better team with Allan Saint-Maximin in the side.

What we could really do with now is for ASM to stay fit AND start and help bringing out more from Miguel Almiron and Joelinton.

Allan Saint-Maximin speaking to the official club site:

“I’m feeling really good.

“It was a very good win (against Manchester United).

“We worked very, very hard and we won a great game against a great team. I can only be happy.

“I was with the team when we won against Tottenham and now we have won against Man Utd, which have been two big games for us, so we are very happy.

“I am really pleased to get my first Premier League win in front of the home supporters.

“I love the fans – that win was for them!

“I love to dribble and they are always pushing me on when I do so, I just want to keep working hard for them.

“It’s a great reaction after last week, everybody was very disappointed after losing against Leicester but we talked about it and said that this cannot happen again.

“We are a good team with good players and we have to keep going and working hard.

“You always want to improve and play a great game against the great teams.

“We showed a lot of good things against Man Utd.

“It is a good time to win before the international break because everybody can now enjoy it a little bit before we play against Chelsea.

“We must make sure we keep going because we need to have good concentration and togetherness as a team to make sure we are ready for the next game.”
