We asked fans ‘What would be your Newcastle United team if everybody was fit?’ Interesting results

On Tuesday we asked NUFC fans the question: ‘Which 11 players would you pick in your Newcastle United team if everybody was fit?’

We put together a list of the 25 Newcastle players named in the senior Premier League squad.

The question is, what is NUFC’s best eleven?

Obviously a little difficult to imagine with all the injuries at the moment.

On Saturday: Lejeune, Yedlin, Gayle, Ritchie, Saint-Maximin and Carroll were all ruled out, whilst a number of others were rated as doubtful in the lead-up to that Watford game.

This two week international break will hopefully prove to be timely and more options available when Premier League football returns in 11 days time, Newcastle visiting Anfield.

However, what would be the cumulative choice of Newcastle United team with the entire squad available?

This is the fans choice of Newcastle United team with everybody available, each player rounded up/down to nearest full percentage point:

99% Martin Dubravka

98% Fabian Schar

94% Joelinton

90%Sean Longstaff

88% Miguel Almiron

84% Isaac Hayden

80% Allan Saint-Maximin

73% Jamaal Lascelles

72% Florian Lejeune

71% Matt Ritchie

62% Paul Dummett

37% DeAndre Yedlin

30% Emil Krafth

28% Jetro Willems

26% Jonjo Shelvey

26% Andy Carroll

16% Javier Manquillo

15% Christian Atsu

8% Dwight Gayle

8%Federico Fernandez

3% Yoshinori Muto

3% Ki Sung-yeung

2% Ciaran Clark

1% Rob Elliot

1% Karl Darlow

Clearly Newcastle fans see Dubravka and Schar as the two outstanding players, with Joelinton then following that pair and Sean Longstaff the other to get 90% support or higher.

Interesting to see Miguel Almiron (88%) scoring so highly, despite some ridiculous over the top comments on him from the media, apparently wanting to make him a scapegoat for the poor overall team performance so far.

The fan selections also point to supporters not being convinced by the wing-back options, including those brought in this summer, winger turned wing-back Matt Ritchie the only one included. The top 11 selections making for a bit of an unbalanced selection as a team with no obvious right wing-back.

No doubting where Newcastle’s main strength lies, with four of the options to play in the defensive middle three all selected (Schar, Lejeune, Lascelles and Dummett).
