Vote to find worst ever Premier League miss includes Alan Shearer for Newcastle United and Ronaldo

Thursday morning sees Alan Shearer included in a list of the worst ever Premier League misses over the past 27 years.

As well as the Newcastle legend, the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry and Matt Ritchie are also included.

Sky Sports have picked out 15 contenders for the accolade of worst ever Premier League miss.

The two Newcastle United contenders are:

25 April 2004 – Alan Shearer against Chelsea (ball breaks in box and only a few yards in front of goal, Alan Shearer sends it towards the corner flag)

26 November 2018 – Matt Ritchie against Burnley (a break down the right and a low cross eludes everybody to reach Ritchie unmarked at back post for a tap in but he somehow puts it wrong side of the post)

Happily, neither miss proved crucial.

Newcastle still beating Burnley 2-1 despite Ritchie’s miss.

Whilst back in 2004, Newcastle recovered from Joe Cole putting Chelsea in front, with Shola Ameobi equalising, then Alan Shearer himself scoring the winner.

Sky Sports have put the 15 goals together on a video and you can see that here and vote for the worst miss from this lot (in the early voting, Rosenthal is maybe predictably out in the lead with 27%, whilst the two Newcastle players only have 3% of the vote each):

Ronny Rosenthal vs Aston Villa

Robbie Fowler vs Nottingham Forest

Samassi Abou vs Man Utd

Alan Shearer vs Chelsea

Kanu vs Middlesbrough

Thierry Henry vs Chelsea

Cristiano Ronaldo vs Sheffield United

Darren Bent vs Portsmouth

Carlos Tevez vs Sunderland

Fernando Torres vs Man Utd

Mari Balotelli vs QPR

Dele Alli vs Stoke

Raheem Sterling vs Burnley

Matt Ritchie vs Burnley

Sergio Aguero vs Chelsea
