Very surprising Leicester fans comments about Newcastle United game

Leicester fans have had plenty to say ahead of today’s game.

Fair to say Newcastle are generally pessimistic about this match, judged by what they have seen this season.

Yet after reading the comments from Leicester fans below, I’m guessing you will feel at least a little bit more hopeful about this afternoon.

The past two seasons appear to have implanted a huge fear factor, I just hope the Leicester players are feeling the same.

It is almost a phobia, an irrational fear, that the home fans have got after losing twice at home these past two seasons.

Many want to portray those two matches as ‘smash and grab’ by Newcastle.

However, a few Leicester fans are happy to indicate that it was far more than that, which indeed is why maybe this over the top fear factor comes from.

The Newcastle wins were achieved despite low possession stats BUT as well as stopping Leicester playing, Newcastle played really well when they had the ball and were dangerous throughout on the counter-attack.

Many Leicester fans want to make out that Leicester were somehow unlucky but in both games Rafa Benitez had his tactics exactly right and it was actually Newcastle who had great chances to score more goals. For all the home side had the ball they struggled to create much at all.

A minority of their fans do make that point, that Leicester now face Steve Bruce and not Rafa Benitez AND that Newcastle have lost their two goalscorers from last season.

A big test for Steve Bruce today as he and his team sit second bottom and as for Leicester, they have the prize of returning to third top if they overcome that fear factor.

Leicester fans comments via their Foxes Talk message board:

‘Watching them play Brighton, I’m reminded how awful it was playing them under Benitez and I’m not convinced they’ve changed a lot.

This will be maybe the first major test of progress this season. Forget Chelsea, United and Tottenham – we’ve been comfortably taking points of the “big” clubs since we got back in the Prem.

These are going to park every vehicle from the North East. We’re going to have to have grown.’

‘About time we gave a team a proper hiding. Long overdue.’

‘They offer very little except for dogged resistance. We’ll either get an early goal and stroll to victory, or labour to a 0-0.’

‘That’s the problem though isn’t it, dogged resistance is our kryptonite.

Think it’ll genuinely be a really, really hard game for us unless we’re fortunate with an early goal.’

‘I think Benitez and his coaching was a huge part in their two wins recently and also Perez scored in both and looked lively and that particular threat has gone.’

‘Dreading this.’

‘It’s not going to be pretty!

For the the many reasons why I want us to win, I want us to shut Cabbage Face up the most.’

‘Newcastle have definitely got a lot, lot less going forward this year that’s for sure.’

Perez to bag his first proper goal for us.’

‘I think if they park the bus we should just kick lumps out of them.’

‘I think the game will be frustrating, tough work and a real challenge, but the way we are playing I think we will break through in the end.’

‘Thinking back to this game last year when I was thinking we’d smash them…

Potential banana skin!’

‘We played Rafa last time, now we’re in a very different space.

Sure it’s natural to be a little cautious (paranoid negative issues) but I just don’t feel it against the current Newcastle set up.

Surely we’re not going to change anything after the Spurs result, yeah?

This is a good game to be going into with the belief we have now, can’t see us losing.’

‘Toughest match of the season, they will it give us an inch, we need to move the ball quick and expect a physical battle.’

‘We were schooled by Rafa!!’

‘They looked awful against Brighton and I would love a comfortable victory.

First goal will be massive.’

‘If we get an early goal I think we’ll whack them but if not then I wouldn’t be shocked to see us drop points.

Lot more confident after the weekend though. Newcastle looked rubbish. It will be a different game but I’m just hoping they’ve lost some of their organisation the longer they spend without Rafa there.’

‘Never mind them losing Perez, it’s them losing our Achilles’ Heel in Rondon that gives me hope that we’ll win this.

They put in one hell of a performance against us last season – honestly the most impressive “away performance” I saw down at the KP in 18/19. I fear similar tactics, but it would require them to have Ki put in the performance he did, plus someone to bully our backline like our old nemesis Solomon did, for them to smash and grab this.’

Rafa’s Newcastle pressed us last time and nullified our midfield, not giving them time on the ball.’

‘I don’t suppose this latest report of Ashley selling the club will impact them? Just the same old, same old?’

‘Newcastle are ones to not underestimate really.

Schär and Lascelles are good CBs. Dubravaka is also a good keeper, it’s just that their midfield and attack are hideous.’

‘It’s the sort of game Perez should be tailor made for. We’ll have about 70% possession and Vardy will find it tough as they sit deep and compact.

Perez needs to get himself in little pockets in the box and give the likes of Ricardo, Tielemans and Maddison an option to slide a pass into. Perez need to be the player who can trouble these teams who come here to sit deep and frustrate. I’ve said before, if all Perez proves to be is a flat track bully who can see sides like Newcastle off at home then he’ll be a good purchase. ‘

‘The time to worry about Andy Carroll is long past.’
