The results of the Newcastle v Watford player ratings by fans.

Each player marked out of 10 and the averages below.

When you have a disappointing result and such a flat team performance, apart from that 15 minute spell in the middle of the second-half, it does tend to drag down the ratings of even the players who did pretty decent.

Fabian Schar was easily Newcastle’s best performer but I think a fan rating of 7.1 is a bit skinny, I would have given him that for his good display at the back but then boosted it to at least an 8.0 after he took responsibility and strode forward in open play to get that vital goal.

The same with clear next best, Martin Dubravka. He rated a 6.5 but I would have had him more like a 7.5, as he was left totally exposed with no chance for the goal but then produced some great saves as the visitors threatened to win it in the final 20 minutes.

The other nine starters were rated five above and four below the 5.0 mark.

Christian Atsu (5.9) didn’t do too badly and had his moments as he followed up that Spurs performance, whilst Jetro Willems (5.7) got up and down that left side pretty well.

Isaac Hayden (5.6) did ok in the middle and produced an excellent save with a long range effort, Paul Dummett (5.5) generally steady at the back, with Joelinton (5.4) not getting decent service and having to drop deep – plus the Brazilian did really well to bring the ball out of defence and put Muto in behind the Watford defence late on, only for a feeble finish from the Japanese striker.

On the weaker side of things, Miguel Almiron (4.6) got the very lowest rating of the starting eleven as he fluffed two decent chances and despite a lot of running there was little end product.

Sean Longstaff (4.7) still struggling to reach the heights of last season, Emil Krafth (4.8) still failing to really convince he is any better than what we already had, whilst Lascelles (4.9) dropped considerably from his back to best display at Tottenham.
