Newcastle United squad named amongst most expensively assembled in Europe – New report
The Newcastle United squad has been listed in a new report looking at the most expensively assembled squads in Europe.
The report from the CIES Football Observatory shows that Manchester City are the first club to cost a billion euros to assemble.
Guardiola’s current squad costing 1.014 bn euros, which equates to approximately £908m at Monday’s exchange rate.
Of the 12 most expensive (clubs analysed from the big five European Leagues – England, Germany, Spain, Italy, France), there are seven from the Premier League, showing the financial muscle of English clubs.
When it comes to the 30 most expensive, 15 of them are from the Premier League.
The Newcastle United squad is said to have cost 227m euros – approximately £203m.
This ranks it as the 10th most expensively assembled Premier League squad and 23rd most expensive of the clubs in the big five European leagues.
