Liverpool fans have their say ahead of facing the mighty Newcastle United – A hint of confidence?
Some interesting comments from Liverpool fans ahead of today’s game.
Jurgen Klopp said on Friday that everybody has to guard against complacency.
Doesn’t sound like the Liverpool fans received the message.
A case of just how many they will win by, not if they will win.
With Rafa Benitez now departed, many Liverpool fans say they will now enjoy hammering Newcastle even more today.
The presence of Steve Bruce seemingly only adding to their anticipation.
If you have been to every Liverpool home game since 1950 you will have only seen the scousers lose twice at Anfield to Newcastle in the league, so maybe a small reason for optimism and (over?) confidence…
Liverpool fans comment via their Red and White Kop message board:
‘At home against Newcastle. You never want to say we’re winning by 3 at minimum but we’re winning by 3 at minimum.’
‘It’s not gonna be pretty for our Geordie friends.’
‘Good thing about Rafa not being their manager is that I can really enjoy Newcastle suffering misfortune. Would love it we tw.tted these, love it.’
‘You’re right, it was always difficult to want to smash them with Rafa was their manager.
I was at St James’ Park in 2014 sitting with the home fans and it was excruciating having them laugh at how cr.p we were, and we were terrible. As usual Rodgers was in denial saying ” “It’s not working for us at the moment. We will continue to hope we get that wee bit of luck and the confidence in final third can return.” Luck my a.se we were bad.
Having Fat Head on the touchline will be just perfect.’
Has got a big fat head
He’s got a big fat head
He’s got a big fat head’
‘I agree we should rotate, especially given the opposition and the games ahead.’
‘Saw their game at Spurs, and while they got a really impressive result, I don’t think they’ll be able to stop us from scoring in 90 minutes here, hopefully we stick a few past them. Were comfortable against Rafa’s side in a 4-0 win last season, so you’d like to think we’d have minimum problems here.’
‘All red versus black n white stripes. It’s the most passionate fixture in English football.’
‘Big Andy Carroll, I thought he had changed his name to be like Alex Oxlade Chamberlain to Andy Carroll Injured. That lad steals a living.’
‘Think he’s on a ‘pay as you play’ deal.’
‘Not surprised he’s on a zero hours contract given who the owner is.’
‘We used to be impatient. We used to lack players who could play around or through a parked bus. We used to lack the determination, concentration and belief to keep on playing until the very last second still believing we could get a result.’
‘I’m going Andy Robertson at 8/1 to score in 90mins
Newcastle tend to defend narrow in the goal mouth and leave space at the back post
Robertson has had more shots on goal this season than any other player except for the front 3
If Liverpool two or three nil up, Newcastle lose some legs, Robertson has the engine to get into those spaces from 70mins onwards.’
‘Undoubtedly the most disappointing fan base of them all… sign on sign on… hope we fu..ing stuff them.’
‘Easy game, full domination and 4-3 to us in 93rd minute.’
‘Now that Rafa s gone I want us to smash them.’
‘Looking forward to this one, great way to start the weekend. I’m expecting a fairly routine win against two banks of four coming for a point.
Hopefully fat head will be heading back to Tyneside one step closer to “destroy and exit”
Mad they let Rafa go.’
‘Bruce said in his presser that his players are ‘not afraid to have a go as they can get something’.
I hope they do, cos that will play right into our hands.
5-0 for sure.’
‘Hahahaha, yeah, right. I don’t believe that for a second, beyond hopeful crosses, long balls and set-pieces. But like you say, I’d fu..ing love it if they did have a go, love it.’
‘Can Steve Bruce be considered as one the best premier league managers as he has a good record against us?’
‘Best for getting a job after getting sacked or getting teams relegated. I agree.’
