Kevin Nolan clueless yet again with Newcastle United comments

Kevin Nolan was a decent player for Newcastle United.

Not great but he did play a big role in getting Newcastle promoted in 2009/10 (though he had been woeful in the second half of that relegation season when brought in, in January 2009), then in retaining Premier League status in 2010/11 after promotion.

However, in his new role as a pundit, Kevin Nolan has been embarrassing.

Indeed, against some pretty tough competition, he has proved himself the worst of the worst.

Back in the summer, Kevin Nolan coming out with some real over the top stuff defending Mike Ashley and attacking Rafa Benitez:

With Mike, you can’t fault him. I think what he has done is he’s still been able to finance the club, and make sure that everything is still running smoothly.

“You go up there and it is a fantastic club, what he has done within the ground is fantastic.

“I mean, the whole Rafa Benitez thing, I think he knew what he was going into when he first walked into that club…I think Rafa has done quite well in working the media in terms of the way he feels and what he wants.’

Then earlier this month Nolan came out with this nonsense:

“Listen, I was there just a week before the season started and the place was buzzing, there were smiles on faces.

“I went up there when Rafa was there and no disrespect to Rafa but it was a lot more duller you know, everything a bit too serious.

“I think Steve has brought a smile back on the lads’ faces, they all seem to be enjoying training, they all seem to be together.

“The biggest thing I brought back from that week was that they all believe that this season, it’s going to be tough but they will be okay.

“And they (Newcastle) will be pushing for that top ten.

“I just think they enjoy the fact that something different was going on.

“And you have to remember, last year Rafa didn’t win in his first 10 games. So they have to give him time.

“So you have to give the man time, I think he is the right fit for Newcastle, definitely, at this time.”

Now Kevin Nolan has switched attention to team selection and where Newcastle’s season will stand or fall, proving himself to be  equally clueless…

Nolan telling Sky Sports:

“I think the more and more that Andy Carroll gets fit, the more he is able to start games…

“I think you might see him and Joelinton working together as a front two because it will certainly help him and it will certainly help Joelinton out two.

“Believe me, they will be a nightmare for any defence.”

Difficult to believe people get paid for coming out with stuff like that.

Andy Carroll was only ever brought in as an impact sub and his age and especially injury/fitness record tells you there is no way he will be starting regularly.

The season will depend on Joelinton gelling with Almiron and Saint-Maximin.

Anything we get from Carroll will be a bonus.
