Some much needed positive news on a number of Newcastle players ahead of Saturday.
A vital game against relegation rivals Brighton awaits at St James Park, United in the bottom three and facing Leicester away, Man Utd home, Chelsea away, Wolves home and West Ham away, in the following five matches.
The injury situation got even worse last weekend, an ankle injury meaning Sean Longstaff was ruled out and Steve Bruce admitting that they didn’t yet know how serious it was, set to find out in the coming week.
The midfielder added to the missing list which already numbered Carroll, Lejeune, Yedlin, Gayle, Ritchie and Saint-Maximin.
Now though a new report has brought an upbeat update.
With Sean Longstaff, The Mail say that their information is that the midfielder hasn’t suffered a serious injury and indeed should be available on Saturday for the Brighton match.
Steve Bruce revealed after the Liverpool defeat, that Andy Carroll’s Friday’s meeting with a specialist had gone well and he’d given the green light to full training this week and possibly back available to play.
The Mail say that Carroll has trained on Monday and Tuesday with no problems and could be included in the squad v Brighton, Steve Bruce making the final decision on Friday after further training sessions.
Meanwhile, defender Fabian Schar received treatment and was then forced off at Anfield, Steve Bruce saying he wasn’t sure whether it was cramp or something a lot more serious.
However, this morning’s report has confirmed good news on the Swiss international as well, Fabian Schar fine for Saturday.
All we need to do now is win…
