Charlie Nicholas paints a depressing picture for Newcastle United

Charlie Nicholas has been looking ahead to Saturday’s match at Anfield.

The two clubs emerging from the international break with club football back on the agenda.

After reading what the Sky Sports pundit has to say, Newcastle fans might be forgiven for wishing the tedious international break to be extended.

Ahead of the game at Tottenham, Charlie Nicholas predicted a 4-0 hammering for Newcastle:

‘Newcastle lacked ambition and togetherness against Norwich but you can’t just point the finger at Steve Bruce and say it’s because Rafa Benitez has gone, because they started slow last season too.

“It takes this team a bit of time to get going.

“Joelinton had no service at all and Miguel Almiron was the same.’

For this Liverpool game, he isn’t predicting quite as heavy a defeat but does once again paint a negative picture for NUFC, saying ‘Joelinton needs time and will not get any service’ at Anfield, going for a 2-0 home win.

Rather strangely, seemingly only based on that backs to the wall win at Spurs, Charlie Nicholas says Newcastle will be better suited away form home’ and indicates the fan unhappiness with Mike Ashley as a reason. The thing is though that there haven’t been protests during matches at St James Park, apart from of course all the empty seats.

Nicholas says that ‘Liverpool look as though they can wipe the floor with most teams’ and after 13 Premier League wins in a row, scoring 37 goals, it is difficult to argue.

As for any positives for Newcastle, Joelinton suggested with that finish at Tottenham, he could score goals this season if getting the service.

Can Newcastle create at least a few chances from somewhere and the Brazilian find another finish to at least give Liverpool something to think about?

We can only hope.

Charlie Nicholas talking to Sky Sports:

“I am reading this week that there are a few injuries floating around.

Steve Bruce’s last away game at Tottenham was a stunning result.

“Newcastle will be better suited away from home – they do not know what their fans will be doing regarding ownership.

“I don’t know who will be fit for Liverpool or whether they will go with the formidable front three, but at the moment Liverpool look as though they can wipe the floor with most teams.

“You cannot open up against them.

“Joelinton needs time and will not get any service.

“We will see how structured Newcastle can be at the back – they will have been working hard defensively.

“Prediction is Liverpool 2 Newcastle 0.”
