Brendan Rodgers has met the media on Friday afternoon.

The Leicester manager talking to journalists ahead of Sunday’s Leicester v Newcastle game.

The Foxes go into the game third in the Premier league and in the last 16 of the League Cup.

Brendan Rodgers asked about beating Spurs, facing Newcastle, how good Steve Bruce is, whether Maddison will be fit and the challenge that has put Matt Ritchie on the injured list.

The Leicester boss saying Steve Bruce is an ‘excellent manager’ who has become better and better, the more experience he has had.

Brendan Rodgers pre-Newcastle press conference:

On Steve Bruce:

“Steve is an excellent manager, very experienced.

“The more experience, the better you become.

“He’s from the area, he knows the feelings of the people.

“There won’t be anybody working harder to make it right there.”

VAR v Tottenham:

“It is something that is part of our game now, things will go for and against you.

“It was a few millimetres offside but it was offside.

“These incidents sometimes get celebrated like you’ve scored a goal, so you have to manage the momentum.”

James Maddison to be available?:

“We will see over the next couple of days.

“He is a doubt but he’s putting some weight on his ankle and we will give him every chance”

That Choudhury ‘tackle’ that put Matt Ritchie out of action:

“We never really spoke about it apart from after the game, the next day.

“He needs to go out and play with aggression like all the players do.”

Beating Tottenham last Saturday:

“It was a very important win.

“When you face the top sides you want to play well and win.

“Tottenham have world-class players, but we came through well.

“After going behind, the connection between the fans and the players was massive.”
