Steve Bruce says happy with his 5 strikers after Newcastle 2 St Etienne 1
Steve Bruce watched on as Newcastle beat St Etienne 2-1.
After the game he stated that he didn’t think Newcastle needed to sign any more strikers in this transfer window.
Despite losing players who scored 26 of the 41 goals that NUFC players scored last season (one of the 42 was an own goal), the head coach says there is no need to look for anybody else.
Steve Bruce stating he has got five strikers that he is happy with in reference to Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, Muto and Gayle.
Bruce saying that despite the rumours, Dwight Gayle is going nowhere, although he admitted the injury that Gayle picked up in China is dragging on.

“We are okay for strikers…okay in that department.
“I have got five (Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton, Muto and Gayle) there.
“I want to keep Dwight Gayle and as I keep saying, you are only as good as your strikers…Gayle has always been part of my plans.
“We hoped that he would be ready after China but he has gone backwards.
“I have tried to buy him before.
“I think it is vitally important having something up the top end of the pitch.
“Especially in the big league where we are playing.
“In that respect it makes all the difference the recruitment has been done.
“Added a bit of pace and power up the top end of the pitch that is vitally important and you can see the benefit of having a good bench when you take off the two strikers (Joelinton and Almiron) and bring the other two (ASM and Muto) on. Very very pleased.
“When you are a big money signing (like Joelinton), to get off and score is always valuable.

“Now the real ball comes out next week.
“Almiron needs a goal to go in off his backside or something…he could have had 10 goals over these last two games.”
