Richard Keys makes it Catch 22 for Newcastle United fans with prediction for new season
You have to laugh at Richard Keys, repeatedly.
There are no depths he won’t sink to when it comes to an agenda he wants to push.
Ahead of the new Premier League season, he has predicted what will happen in the campaign ahead.
At the top he goes for Liverpool to win it ahead of Manchester City.
Then at the bottom he has Norwich definitely finishing bottom and then two from three for the other relegation places, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and Brighton all at risk according to Richard Keys.
However, it is when he gets to Newcastle United he just can’t help himself…
Richard Keys writing on his blog:
“Newcastle will do ok.
“What a breath of fresh air Steve Bruce will be.
“He’ll get them playing – and they’ve got the players to do that – unlike Brighton, who can’t afford to.
“It was so refreshing to hear Bruce talk about winning a trophy.
“He knows they can’t complete in the top 6.
“Those days have gone – unless you’re owned by a Nation State or a billionaire.
“But Newcastle CAN win a trophy if the coach cares enough about silverware and not his bonus for grinding out a top 10 finish.”
Honestly, it puts you in a real Catch 22 position, if you want Newcastle to do well and they end being relatively successful, then Richard Keys will relentlessly talk about it as proof in his ridiculous anti-Rafa Benitez agenda…as well as Newcastle fans by association.
It is quite hilarious when Richard Keys writes ‘It was so refreshing to hear Bruce talk about winning a trophy…Newcastle CAN win a trophy if the coach cares enough about silverware and not his bonus for grinding out a top 10 finish.’
So Rafa Benitez who has won loads of trophies is not supported in the transfer market and has such a weak squad he has no alternative but to marginalise the cups because he was in the middle of relegation battles both these last two season.
Whilst it is some kind of brilliant leap forward when Steve Bruce, who has never won a trophy, simply talks about winning one.
Again, I hope it doesn’t happen, but imagine if Newcastle lose all of their first three games (more than possible as the opposition is favourite in all three), then in the midweek before facing Watford at home (Liverpool away the following match) it is the League Cup second round. With Gayle and Carroll still not likely to be available by then, can you honestly imagine Steve Bruce playing Joelinton in that league cup match, if we are with no points from nine?
The trouble is, even if Newcastle United bombed this season, you can guarantee that Richard Keys would be finding a way to still blame it on Rafa Benitez and the Newcastle fans, rather than Steve Bruce and the ongoing Mike Ashley circus.
