Peter Crouch enjoys Joelinton performance – ‘Exquisite’

Peter Crouch had his moments against Newcastle United.

The awkward looking but talented striker scoring for Southampton back in the 2004/05 season against Newcastle United.

Then home and away for Liverpool in 2005/06, as well as home and away for Stoke in 2014/15.

Now he has moved into punditry and made his Match of The Day debut on Sunday night.

Peter Crouch has already proved himself an amusing and on point media pundit and he didn’t disappoint on MOTD2.

Appearing alongside Alan Shearer, Peter Crouch focused especially on Joelinton and his goalscoring match-winning performance against Spurs.

Crouch declaring about the 22 year old Brazilian: ‘He has got good technique and he can play.’

Describing Joelinton’s touch as ‘exquisite’ before putting away the winner, Peter Crouch then stated: ‘He was big and he was strong, it wasn’t just the goal.’

The player turned pundit referring to the striker’s all-round game, the willingness to help out the defence and work hard to bring others into the game.

Hopefully this is now the launch pad for Joelinton.

Peter Crouch speaking  on MOTD2 about Joelinton’s performance v Tottenham:

“I really enjoyed his performance, I have to say.

“I know that he had a tough time last week (against Norwich) but this week I thought he showed a lot of character.

“He was big and he was strong, it wasn’t just the goal.

“His first touch (for the winning goal) was exquisite.

“He took Danny Rose out of the game and it was a great finish but his all round game was good.

“He held it up really well and you look at the way he’s always looking for the ball.

“His strength was good and the defence will have loved the fact that he was working so hard to keep the ball.

“He has got good technique and he can play.

“He is not the finished article but Steve Bruce has got a player he can work with.

“They were at home to Newcastle, Tottenham are expected to win this game, but the intensity just wasn’t there.”
