Friday afternoon has seen a Newcastle United official announcement confirming Elias Sorensen has gone out on loan.

The striker had a curtailed and disappointing experience on loan at Blackpool last season.

The 19 year old Dane hoping for better luck and games this time.

A media exclusive this morning (see below) claimed Sorensen was off to Carlisle this time.

Now Newcastle have confirmed this, Elias Sorensen playing in League Two for Carlisle throughout 2019/20.

Newcastle United official announcement:

Newcastle United forward Elias Sorensen has joined Carlisle United on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has linked up with Steven Pressley’s men ahead of their League Two clash at home to Mansfield Town on Saturday, and will remain at Brunton Park until the end of the current campaign.

Denmark youth international Sorensen hit 20 goals for the Magpies’ under-23 side last term, and also spent time on loan at Blackpool in League One.

The former HB Köge forward, who joined United in the summer of 2016, made his bow for his country’s under-21s earlier this year, and has netted three times in five games at youth level for Denmark.

He featured for Steve Bruce’s first team during pre-season, playing against Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United in the Premier League Asia Trophy in China.

He joins a Carlisle side who currently sit 10th in the fourth tier, with two wins and a defeat from their first three games in the league and Carabao Cup.

The Mag – earlier today (16 August 2019):

Elias Sorensen is set to go out on loan once again.

An exclusive from Football Insider has reported that Elias Sorensen has agreed a deal to join Carlisle on loan.

They say a number of Football League clubs had made enquiries for the prolific goalscorer but it is Cumbria where he is heading.

The young Dane turns 20 in September and scored for fun in the reserves last season, only for a loan move top Blackpool to fall flat.

Elias Sorensen recalled early as he was not given a single start at the League One side and was regularly not even in the matchday squad.

The local media have followed up the exclusive by now confirming that Carlisle is believed to be where he is heading.

Maybe the expectation would have been League One again but the main thing is that he gets games and hopefully goals.

Carlisle ended last season 11th in League Two and have started with a win and a defeat this season, though they shocked Barnsley in midweek when winning 3-0 at Oakwell in the League Cup.

Elias Sorensen speaking to The Chronicle this week:

“It is up to the manager now (whether staying at Newcastle this season or going out on loan).

“It depends what he wants me to do.

“Personally I’d rather stay and fight for a place, but it’s up to him.

“If he wants me to go out on loan I’ll do that.

“It was always nice to get some minutes in pre-season (against Wolves and West Ham in China) with the first team and I was buzzing.

“I played my best and I thought I done quite well, that is all I can do.

“Obviously, looking back on the chance (against West Ham), I am gutted I didn’t score on my full debut.

“I just have to get on with it now, I just have to think about the next one and I can’t dwell on it for too long.

“I just think positively about scoring when I get my next chance, hopefully I will do that.

“I am over the moon to have been given a chance and a start.

“It shows that the new manager does have a bit of trust in me.

“Hopefully I can impress him and I’ll get more chances this season.

“I think I am ready for the first-team challenge.”
