Newcastle United fans react to issues facing the club – What would Billy Furious do?

The Mag was the first publication to give Newcastle United fans the chance to express themselves, the paper version launched in August 1988.

Now 31 years later, it feels like the more things change the more they stay the same.

Not everybody wants to write a long/full article, so we have put together a number of so far unpublished shorter contributions we have received recently, enjoy them below.

If you have anything at all to say about Newcastle United, please send it along, long or short, and it will be considered for publication as either an article or part of a selection of comments/shorter pieces (Please send to [email protected]).

Only when I laugh

I had to laugh at Steve Bruce following the team’s excellent win at Spurs.

What an absolute chancer.

Yes he deserves some credit because he trains and picks the players.

However, this was Rafa’s team, Rafa’s tactics.

Bruce is already having to tear up his pre-season tactics/plan, after only three hours of football.

Playing Shelvey as one of three central midfielder was just stupid, leaving us short going forward and inviting a team like Norwich to dominate.

Back to the 5-2-2-1 with Longstaff and Hayden as a pair and two players to support the centre-forward, it isn’t rocket science!

Everybody knew their jobs because it was Rafa’s system they played in last year. Joelinton did as well as Rondon would have done, no higher praise. The only weak link was Emil Krafth, who is making Manquillo look excellent.

What would Billy Furious do?

Mike Ashley we all hate.

It’s pi..ed every one of us off.

How to get back at the fat cockney?

Dont buy his merchandise.

Don’t buy his drink in the ground , even though all Newcastle supporters are always thirsty.

Dont renew your season ticket if you think that’s the answer .

Me personally, I love following The Mags home and away, ever since my first away game to Ipswich when Micky Burns hit the bar.

Whatever we do, the club, the team are ours, it’s in our blood. We go down with the ship.

I personally can’t turn my back on our team.

Boycott the games

It is now 47 years supporting the toon.

Ashley out.

Bruce is an Ostrich.

Won’t see any glory days in what years I have left. Boycott the games.

A Spurs fan (before Sundays game)

I read your article and contest your comment in comparing newcastle to spurs.

For about 5 years of about the last 100 you’ve done better than us.

Trophies and history there’s no comparison whatsoever.

The fairs cup doesn’t count, before it became the UEFA cup it was an unrecognised UEFA tournament by invite only.

Yes you played some great stuff under Kenny and were good to watch. But that is about it I am afraid.

Get them fit

We know the team is cr.p but they could be the fittest!!!

They were abysmal at Norwich, out for an afternoon stroll, wandering around without a care in the world. come’on Bruce get them fit!!!

Rangers perspective

I am a diehard Rangers fc fan.

When Ashley got onto our board he promised the fans large amounts of cash and high profile signing, what happened? Fu.., all instead of putting cash into the club he took cash out of it and he is still taking money out of the club through the courts, re his dispute over the new replica kits.

When rangers went with Hummel the only way the fans is getting back at him is refusing to buy any kits from his shops.

It may sound a bit of a small protest but there are millions upon millions of Rangers fans all over the world and put a good dent in his wallet.
