Newcastle United drawn against Leicester City in League Cup second round
Newcastle United were ball number 5 in tonight’s League Cup draw.
The second round draw made after the first round games had been completed on Tuesday night.
A competition that Newcastle have never won and an absolutely abysmal record under Mike Ashley.
The last two seasons seeing NUFC crash out to Championship side Nottingham Forest both times.
Newcastle losing 3-1 at Forest in the second round last season and 3-2 at home at the same stage in 2017/18.
Sunderland winning 3-1 at Accrington Stanley tonight to create that possibility…
The second round draw split into north and south sections, increasing the chances of a derby.
Tonight has seen Steve Bruce and his team draw Leicester City though.
The game to be played at St James Park.
Sunderland getting an away draw at Burnley.
A tough draw for NUFC and one that could see Ayoze Perez making a swift return to St James Park.
Newcastle are set to face Perez and Leicester away in the Premier League on 28 September live on Sky Sports.
