More excuses from Newcastle United
Well it’s the Carabao Cup, one of the cup competitions Newcastle United are targeting to win this year.
I’m sure we supporters are ecstatic about that team (four starters surviving from the Premier League game at the weekend) put out by Steve Bruce…I think not.
Not exactly an electrifying performance.
Both penalty takers (Shelvey and Hayden) who failed, later apologised, more excuses.
After match comments on Wednesday night were the normal banal football excuses trotted out yet again, trying to bolster a very ordinary performance.
Where are the Waddle, Gazza and Beardsley type of up and coming youngsters, what on earth are the scouting team doing?
Do they understand their brief?
We need youngsters with skill, speed and power, everything else is less than secondary. Physicality and stature seem to be at the top of the Newcastle United scouting list – WHY?
After Sunday’s fortunate win at Spurs with some 20% possession, much more attacking imagination and skilful ball retention is required.
One cannot complain about the effort and application of the players, however, there is an urgent need to add skill and speed – but from where?
Does our squad possess such players?
If the answer is yes, get them in the team.
If not, can anyone sensibly explain what we do, as I for one find it boringly frustrating, watching some of our present squad play in a purely defensive structure (only 32% possession against Leicester) – urgent help is needed.
