Last chance – Object today online to Gallowgate development that stops expansion of St James Park
This is your last chance – Object today to Gallowgate development that stops any future expansion of St James Park and ruins the city skyline and great view as you approach the stadium from the south/city centre.
Thursday is the final opportunity to object and comment on the proposals.
Down below you will find some useful info from the Newcastle United Supporters trust (NUST).
Then following that, we have done a short step by step guide detailing how to get to where you need to, so you can object and comment (it is simple and will only take you a few minutes).
Newcastle United Supporters Trust (NUST) information:
Gallowgate End – Strawberry Place Planning Application
We posted a thread on Twitter from our attendance at the public consultation on May 9th 2019.
This legacy goes beyond just the state of NUFC on the pitch. It includes legacy issues such as the development of the land adjacent to the Gallowgate End on Strawberry Place.
A new planning application has been submitted to Newcastle City Council for the development of this land.
The land was previously owned by Newcastle United until Mike Ashley sold it to himself, and then sold it on again at a significant profit.
We fundamentally believe this strategic piece of land should still belong to the Club and could be developed as a key gateway into NUFC, and be pivotal to any future expansion of the Gallowgate, however far in the future this could take place.
The NUST Board have been in discussions with agents acting for the developers and will be meeting with them shortly to further express our concerns.
In the meantime, we urge you all to log on to the Newcastle City Council website and object to the planning application reference: 2019/0879/01/DET.
The application can be found on the Newcastle Council website, objections must be submitted by 1st August 2019.
A quick step by step guide to objecting:
Click HERE to go to Newcastle City Council planning page.
Then second option down is ‘Search by reference number’, click that and then enter 2019/0879/01/DET to take you direct to the SJP/Gallowgate planning application.
At the top of that page click ‘Register’ and you enter name, address and password, then an email is sent for you to click to confirm you are registered and now able to comment/object.
Log-in using your email and password, then search once again using 2019/0879/01/DET and then click ‘Commenter type’ and choose ‘Member of the public’
Then click ‘Object’ and leave your comment below that, explaining why you don’t want the development to go ahead.
***This probably makes it sound more complicated than it actually is but thought worth detailing step by step just in case…
