Intriguing Watford fans comments as argue whether Steve Bruce or Javi Gracia is a bigger joke

Last season Watford fans saw their team flying high at the top of the Premier League when picking up 12 points from the first four games.

They continued with decent form after that, reaching Premier League early and going all out for the FA Cup.

Their league form tailed off as they went for cup glory but still managed 50 points and a respectable 11th place, though they got a six goal hammering at Wembley.

However, a defeat at St James Park and it would be zero points from four games and definitely bottom of the league, they even need a three goal win to overtake Newcastle on Saturday.

Intriguing to see the debate amongst Watford fans below.

Much of the argument taking up with whether it is Newcastle or Watford who have the most useless manager/head coach.

We should be a little better informed on that one after Saturday…

Watford fans comments via their WFC Forums message board:

‘Newcastle did alright under Benitez and have the opportunity to consolidate in the promised land of the Premiership.

However, greedy Benitez wanted money to spend on the team which was not forthcoming.

So Ashley logically let Benitez go and instead gave Steve Bruce a load of money to spend. Steve Bruce?

IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE.’

‘A must win game.’

‘Can’t see us improving too much from what’s gone on before.

Joelinton will have a field day with all those free headers in our box.’

‘No way a Steve Bruce team will win two games in a row. 3 points for the Hornets.’

‘Exactly. Steve Bruce is the one thing that gives me a glimmer of hope in this game.’

‘Beat Spurs away. They will be licking their chops at our bunch of cowards turning up at St James. 2-0. Gracia then sacked.’

‘Yes, Newcastle looked pretty impressive . Kept their shape, defended well, worked for each other, plenty of commitment and defended well.

But, Spurs looked very weak and didn’t have much of a clue about breaking them down … they all fall over too easily in the box, as they did last season.

Anything could happen in this match – it’ll be about our tactics, shape, desire and teamwork.’

‘Steve Bruce vs Javi Gracia. Two of the finest minds in the elite game. Who will win? Who will choke and importantly, who will keep their underwear dry? Tune in Saturday at 5pm to find out.’

‘Another 3-0 spanking as the Geordies have a party in the space behind our full backs leaving Craig and Craig floundering.

Gracia tells anyone who will listen it was a good performance.’

‘It feels like insanity to be going to this. At least the bigg market is only a few mins from the ground, hopefully one of the pubs will be showing a different match so we can watch the second half.’

‘Newcastle’s one success this season was that surprise at Spurs.

They did that by defending en masse in an organised and bodies-on-the-line way. But they are second from bottom and playing at home against the bottom club. That must give Bruce all sorts of different ideas.

It is difficult to believe they will start with all-out defence against us. Apart from anything else their crowd wouldn’t have it. If they come at us they will be ordinary at best and we must have a chance.

As so often the first goal is very important – because we know they can defend it. Sarr, and to some extent Gray will not be effective against a packed defence. Some difficult planning and a bench that enables flexibility for Javi to consider.

We all know this is already a six-pointer, but panicking will not help.’

‘Predictions

We won’t keep a clean sheet (ever again).
We might score.

Newcastle between 1 and 3 Watford between 0 and 5.

Would like to think we would win.’

‘Soak up the pressure with a strong midfield, then use the also technically gifted midfield to set free our attack, hit them with the unreal pace on the break, happy days.

The day our season gets back on track.

3-1 Watford.’

‘Was actually feeling quite confident about this one.

Heading to NUFC, with them below us on GD after a tonking at Spurs, pressure growing on Bruce, unrest on the terraces, 0-0 after 20 mins, they can’t even beat little ol’ watford…..

However the brilliant win at Spurs has destroyed all of that. Suddenly all the fans are back on side. Maybe Bruce IS the right man ? Maybe the last couple of big money signings ARE worth the money ?

Must win game.

3-1 to NUFC.’

Newcastle winning at Spurs was the best thing that could have happened for us.

They’ll be on the up, full of confidence and their crowd will roar them onto the front foot. IF we can hold on until the 70th minute when Gracia is allowed to make subs, their frustration will get the better of them, leaving Sarr and Welbeck to come on and exploit the room in behind and we run out 2-0 winners.’

‘They have a better defence we have a better attack. So 0-0 or 5-5 then.’

‘At the risk of sounding slightly hyperbolic, I’d honestly say this is one of our biggest games since being back in the Premier League.

If we lose, we could easily find ourselves cut adrift already.

Sadly can’t see anything but a boring 1-0 Newcastle win following an error by Cathcart/Dawson/Holebas (delete as appropriate).’

‘I’ve decided to go to this. I am a fu..ing idiot.’
