‘I support the team not the regime’
First and foremost, I support the team not the regime.
It has to be said there are probably more Newcastle fans with the same mindset as me and quite frankly, I’m sick and tired of been told to boycott games or do this demonstration or that demonstration, because of some idiots’ petty squabble with Mike Ashley and his cockney mates.
So here’s me venting my spleen about the club I love, not the owner or manager, or this player or that player.
I don’t like Ashley, I think he only sees Newcastle United as a free advertisement for his other businesses…
…but it is his company and that’s his prerogative.
Yes I would like more investment in the team – but ask any supporter of any club and they would say the same.
A lot of these so-called fans think this is the worse it has been.
Trust me, a forward line of Almiron, Joellinton and Saint-Maximin (POTENTIALLY!!) is nowhere near as bad as I have seen.
Remember Cunningham, Reilly and Whitehurst?
Seymour and McKeag were far worse owners than Mike Ashley in my opinion.
I used to go and watch them draw at home to oxford 2-2 on a pitch that use to resemble a ploughed field.
He was undoubtedly our best manager since Sir Bobby but it wasn’t always great football, his negativity was so frustrating at times.
For me, going to the match is a way of life spending quality time with my son, talking about our passion for Newcastle United.
Feeling the emotion of that wonder strike in the top corner of the Gallowgate, the look on my youngest son’s face is priceless.
No owner, manager or any anti-establishment group will ever stop me from enjoying that two or three hours every couple of weeks.
Howay The Lads.
Good luck for the new season.
