Dion Dublin with laughable expert insight into Mike Ashley’s thinking at Newcastle United
I know we shouldn’t expect anything else when listening to the ‘experts’ on Newcastle United, especially those on Sky Sports, but Dion Dublin has now taken it to another level.
We are used to nonsense from certain people, in particular Paul Merson.
I think we all know his game now though. In an attempt to try and stay ‘relevant’ and keep his job, Merson just says anything and everything about Newcastle United without really believing what he is saying, simply attention seeking to get the mentions and reaction.
However, you then get characters such as Dion Dublin, in this instance, who don’t appear to have any special Newcastle United agenda but who are totally clueless.
Ahead of the game at Tottenham, Dion Dublin has addressed the overall situation at St James Park and in particular, how it looks from the position of Mike Ashley.
When Dublin was speaking it was like a combination of somebody who was just visiting planet earth for the first time and had just learnt of the Mike Ashley NUFC situation…and somebody who in 2019 thinks he has just reinvented the wheel!
Dion Dublin speaking on Sky Sports:
“I suppose he (Mike Ashley) doesn’t really have to (sell Newcastle United), does he?
“Because he is in charge, I suppose really he doesn’t really have to.
“He’s saying to himself, hold on a minute.
“We are in the Premier League.
“Yes they had that little spell in the Championship granted…but they are a Premier League club.
“They will end up staying in the Premier League for a long time.
“He is thinking, why don’t I hang on for the money?
“It might not be right for the fans and the way the club wants to go forward in regards winning things, the way they are playing, success.
“But he’s thinking, hold on, my asset is still worth a few quid.”
The thing that none of these experts do, is question whether a regular liar such as Mike Ashley is actually telling the truth about being willing to sell Newcastle.
Then on top of that, Dion Dublin declares the revelation: ‘He is thinking, why don’t I hang on for the money?’ Surely Dublin should at least be aware that it is now 12 years that Ashley claims the club has been up for sale. In that time the vast majority of other Premier League clubs have changed hands, some of them a number of times. So surely it has to occur to Dublin and others that there is something really off, if Newcastle isn’t being sold.
As for ‘that little spell in the Championship’ there has already been two under this owner.
In 10 Premier League seasons so far, Mike Ashley has relegated Newcastle twice, in 2015 we only survived on the final day, plus in 2013 survival was only reached on the day of the second last match of the season. Plus we have had a number of other struggles against relegation such as these past two years.
Dion Dublin states ‘They will end up staying in the Premier League for a long time’, as though there is no danger of relegation this season, or any other when Mike Ashley is in charge.
The truth is that EVERY season whilst Ashley is here, Newcastle are in danger of relegation because he refuses to run the club on professional lines, refuses to employ the right level of professional staff or have a long-term strategy.
