Daniel Farke fears big club Newcastle United with ‘Top class players’ – Set to have 5 injured stars missing

Daniel Farke is playing the underdog card ahead of Saturday’s match.

Norwich take on Newcastle and the Canaries boss is keen to talk up the opposition.

The Norwich boss says Newcastle United are a ‘big club’ and that the promoted club will be the underdog in most matches this season.

Daniel Farke states that Newcastle ‘have top class players and have strengthened in the summer’, saying that the home side will have to be at their ‘best level’ to get a positive result.

Farke though believes ‘We can take lots of positives from Liverpool’ despite the 4-1 scoreline.

The Norwich boss has injuries to deal with, as Klose, Zimmermann and Drmic are all definitely unavailable, whilst McLean could miss as well.

Added to that, Cuban winger Onel Hernandez has suffered a freak accident when slipping at home and is set to be missing for a while, he was a key player when finishing top of the Championship, scoring eight goals from the wing.

Whilst Daniel Farke is keen to push the underdog angle, last Friday showed that they won’t be acting like one (an underdog), as they went to Anfield and kept trying to attack, making a decent number of chances and the final scoreline not totally reflecting the 90 minutes.

The first game at home after promotion against another club tipped as relegation possibles, little doubt that Norwich will be throwing everything at this one.

Daniel Farke speaking at pre-Newcastle United press conference:

“We are the underdog in most games because of the possibilities of the opponents.

Newcastle are a big club.

“They have top class players and have strengthened in the summer.

“We have to be at our best level.

“We can take lots of positives from Liverpool.

“We showed we can compete at that level but now we want to gain some points, starting tomorrow.

“We also have big blow for Onel Hernandez. He slipped over at home and fell on his knee. We have to check if there’s something wrong with his ACL. He is out for 3 months, may need surgery.”

“Timm Klose and Christoph Zimmermann are not available for tomorrow. Kenny McLean is also a major doubt and we are definitely without Josip Drmic.

“Alex Tettey is back and available for tomorrow. Ibrahim and Amadou and Mario Vrancic have had a week training, these are the positives.”
