The Newcastle team v Arsenal has just been confirmed.

Newcastle kicking off their first Premier League match of the season on Sunday afternoon at 2pm.

The game will be Steve Bruce’s first competitive NUFC game in charge on the touchline.

In pre-season we have seen an embarrassing 4-0 hammering by Wolves over in China, which then saw improvement when beating West Ham 1-0 with a Muto goal.

Newcastle lost 2-1 at Preston before then the 3-1 win up at Hibs.

Pre-season ending with the only friendly at St James Park, a 2-1 victory over St Etienne.

Now the real thing kicks off.

Only one new signing in the team with Joelinton making his debut.

Andy Carroll won’t be involved for some weeks but the other three signings are on the bench.

The main news probably is that Matt Ritchie has recovered and it looks like he and Manquillo will be wing-backs.

Steve Bruce seemingly set to continue with Rafa’s three/five at the back but with there central midfielders and Almiron supporting Joelinton.

This is today’s Newcastle team v Arsenal:

Dubravka; Schar, Lascelles, Dummett; Manquillo, Hayden, Shelvey, Longstaff, Ritchie; Almiron; Joelinton

Subs

Darlow, Clark, Fernandez, Krafth, Willems, Saint-Maximin, Muto
