Arsenal fans comments after beating Newcastle United – Interesting on both teams

Arsenal fans travelled more in hope than expectation on Sunday.

Only one clean sheet in the Premier League away from home last season and not a great away record (only seven in 2018/19, the lowest in top six) overall.

All kinds of factors led to a severely weakened team and as you can see from the comments below, a lot of Arsenal fans felt they got away with on Sunday with so many new signings and established first team players missing.

As for Newcastle United, the visiting supporters had mixed views on the opposition.

From NUFC going to do ok right through to certain relegation.

On individuals, less than impressed with Miguel Almiron and especially his dive that earned a yellow card, ironic considering that for Arsenal their players have made diving into an art form down the years.

As for Joelinton, the overall view is that he will thrive in the Premier League, lets hope the Arsenal fans are right with that one.

Arsenal fans comment via their Arsenal Mania message board:

‘This is likely to be the worst side we field this season and Newcastle did fu.. all against it. Honestly i’m very pleased with todays game all things considered.

Newcastle however are fu..ed.’

‘Joelinton looked dreadful for them and that Almiron lad is a dirty cheat.’

‘Almiron does look like a cheat but Joelinton causes us some problems in the first-half. He’ll do well in this league.’

‘Found it very encouraging that we played a bunch of young guys from the start and we came away with a good win and clean sheet.’

‘Lovely to win on the opening day, in an Adidas kit and a 1-0 scoreline. I was happy with effort all put in.

A couple of times our players could have intercepted but played it safe and got goal side. I though Chambers missed a couple of headers but overall, Newcastle were underwhelming.

I’m pretty happy to have beaten Steve Bruce as well. Well have to play better but looking at the squad and the missing players to return.’

‘Not sure what you expected. Lots of first XI out. Even when they come back I’d expect some gelling issues.’

‘I am fine with this result and performance. First game of the season without many new signings and first team players.’

‘I for one am delighted with the result and overall performance. Game was pretty boring overall, but considering our depleted squad, terrible away record last season and poor starts in recent seasons, I would have been happy with a draw tbh. To get all 3 points and a clean sheet is terrific.’

‘Great result. That will probably be our weakest team this season and we cruised it.’

‘Don’t know if it has been said already but Joelinton is perfect for the PL, I think he’ll be very good here.’

‘Not sure I can take another season of this dull football, especially at home where we should be more fun to watch.’

‘This is where I am. I want to be entertained. That is why I watch this sport. At the moment I am not feeling very entertained.. May leave the sport as a result.’

‘Very impressed, tough away game up north and missing laca, tierney, bellerin, torreira, holding ++ and getting away with 3 points and a clean sheet.’

‘Almiron looks like a character from a Tim Burton film and is a poor footballer.

Absolute bust of a signing. Loved the booking for his ridiculously poor dive.’

Newcastle will do well this season despite the internal strife thats going on, thats a decent squad they have..’

‘So many missing players, away game, rainy day, we’ve lost this game a thousand times. Not today. Confidence is high.’

‘Very pleased with the result, and confident we’ll improve from now on.

It’s quite notable we had three of our academy players starting in such a potentially tough away game.’
