After a busy day of updates on Allan Saint-Maximin moving to Newcastle from French media, Thursday night ended with Nice-Matin reporting that the 22 year old would be on Tyneside for his medical on Friday.

During the day, Newcastle fans had been told (see below) that a six year contract was agreed with the player.

Whilst in terms of transfer fee, it is an  initial £16.4m transfer fee but with all but guaranteed easily obtained add-ons that will see that figure increase to £20m. More money could be payable but that depends on hitting other targets that aren’t so easily obtainable.

Now on Friday morning the reliable GFFN (Get French Football News) report that Allan Saint Maximin has nowarrived at Newcastle United’s training centre and will now go through his medical.

Newcastle are desperate for both quality and quantity in terms of new signings, this is the 79th day of the transfer window and only six left to go.

To have only signed one up to this point is laughable and whilst it is obviously far from ideal to leave it so late to do your transfer business and give them no pre-season whatsoever with their new teammates, Newcastle fans hope that Allan Saint-Maximin will be one of a number of late deals.

The threadbare nature of the squad was summed up by the bench at Hibs on Tuesday night.

Plus of course we are still to hear just how bad Matt Ritchie’s injury in that game is likely to be.

No news either on when Allan Saint-Maximin will get his tour of the state of the art training facilities, including wheelie bin and paddling pol innovations.

The Chronicle are also now reporting that the Nice winger has been spotted at the NUFC training ground.

The Mag – 1 August 2019:

Allan Saint Maximin will become Newcastle United’s second signing of the summer according to Thursday afternoon reports from France.

Earlier today, RMC revealed that Lee Charnley was in Nice along with other NUFC representatives to finalise a deal for the 22 year old.

Now the French radio station (RMC) have updated on that and say that a deal has been concluded,

They state that after turning down previous offers, Newcastle United had raised the bid to 18m euros plus add-ons, with 4m euros worth of those add-ons ‘easily obtainable’ for the Ligue 1 club.

That would guarantee them at least 22m euros (£20m) for the winger,

RMC and Soccer Link report that Premier League side Newcastle United have today concluded an agreement with Ligue 1 club OGC Nice to sign 22-year-old French youth international winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

They also confirm that like Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin has agreed a six year contract with NUFC, taking him up to June 2025.

Soccer-link have also reported on the deal that is said to have been concluded and they also point out that both Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin are represented by the same agents.

Soccer-link were the ones who also ran the story yesterday, saying that Newcastle had seen an initial 5m euros (£4.6m) bid for Swedish international right-back Emil Krafth turned down but that they understood only a slightly higher offer was needed and NUFC would be back to seal that deal.
