We asked fans how much will Newcastle United spend this Summer? Overwhelming results

On Saturday afternoon we asked Newcastle United fans the question – ‘There’s now £90m available but how much will Newcastle United spend this Summer?’

Lee Charnley stated back in April, that there would be at least £60m available to buy players in the summer transfer window, plus money from players sold.

With Ayoze Perez sold to Leicester City for £30m, that takes the ‘war chest ‘ up to £90m already, if we believe Lee Charnley and Mike Ashley.

As it stands, not one player has been signed, not one penny spent.

This is now the 62nd day of the summer transfer window, with another 23 days to go after today.

So our question was. how much of that £90m will be spent by Newcastle United?

Or more precisely, how much of that £90m PLUS added money from the sales of more players this Summer, will be spent by NUFC?

We gave Newcastle fans 11 options as to the expected level of spending:

1% £90m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

0% £80m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

0% £70m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

1% £60m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

2% £50m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

3% £40m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

8% £30m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

14% £20m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

10% £10m plus the money raised by selling other NUFC players

14% £0m just the money raised by selling other NUFC players

47% None of the £90m AND only some of the money raised by selling other NUFC players

So only 1% of Newcastle fans believe that Mike Ashley will honour his commitment of the £60m plus revenue generated by the sales of Ayoze Perez (and Joselu now) and others.

Indeed, only 7% of supporters believe that there will be £40m or more will be spent, as well as money from other player sales (not including Perez money).

Almost half (47%) seeing the position as being that Mike Ashley will not spend any of the £90m and will spend only some of the cash from other player sales.

With another 14% thinking it will be just the cash raised by selling more players, that means 61% believe that none of this current supposed £90m transfer pot will be spent.
