‘The lack of moral spine of so many Newcastle fans is disgraceful’

You can see it happening now with Newcastle fans.

You can see the effects of the Mike Ashley PR machine.

You can see the effect of Bruce’s interviews.

You can see the effect of the pre-season games and the summer break.

You can see that, despite everything that has happened this summer, despite everything that Rafa Benitez achieved, despite all the talk of ‘if Rafa goes, that’s it’, the fact is that there will be 45,000+ there for the first game.

The lack of moral spine of so many Newcastle fans is disgraceful, yet not a surprise.

For all the talk on social media of a boycott, for all the excellent work by the pressure groups in trying to organise protests and for all the nonsense the fans have had to endure over Ashley’s dead hand reign, there are far too many people who will blindly go along to that first game as though nothing has happened.

As someone who very rarely forgets that it’s just a game and its not really that important in everyday life, I feel it’s now or never.

I’ve had it with Ashley and won’t be back until he goes.

It depresses me to think that 45,000 will go and will, therefore, condone his running of the club.

My final thought is that whoever does go can have no right to boo, chant Ashley Out songs or criticise the team.

If you go it’s because you’re happy with Ashley, so don’t bother pretending you’ve got the club’s best interests at heart.

You can’t criticise Ashley and yet still have a ‘Games Attended’ counter.

That, to quote our now, glorious leader Mr. Johnson, is having your cake and eating it.

And that is unacceptable. Boycott Now!
