Sky Sports have been told ‘key’ Newcastle United signings lined up after Steve Bruce appointed
Sky Sports are reporting that ‘key’ Newcastle United signings will shortly arrived.
As things stand, this is the 58th day of the 2019 Summer transfer window and only 27 days until the window closes.
All of the 19 other Premier League clubs have made signings, the likes of Norwich City having already brought in nine new players.
Every club making significant investment in their squad apart from Newcastle United, with numerous clubs spending tens of millions of pounds on individuals, such as Leicester City laying out £70m for Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans.
So what can we expect from Newcastle in these rapidly dwindling days that remain?
Well, Sky Sports presenter Pete Graves says he has been ‘TOLD’ that ‘some key signings’ are going to follow the appointment of Steve Bruce.
Interesting that the Sky Sports man refers to Bruce’s imminent arrival as that of ‘Head Coach’, further reinforcing the belief that he will have no say on any important decisions such as transfers in and out, as was the case with Steve McClaren and Alan Pardew.
I can quite believe that some Newcastle United signings will arrive very shortly, as even Mike Ashley isn’t quite stupid/negligent enough to buy nobody in the desperate position the club finds itself. I don’t expect to be impressed with either the amount of money spent or the quality of player signed and the fact that the club almost certainly have signings already lined up, backs up the claims that other people are choosing the signings and not the Manager, sorry, Head Coach.
Even if Newcastle United signings are now quickly made, it will be too late for them to be involved in the Premier League Asia Trophy. So what that means they will end up with minimal pre-season at NUFC, as when the squad arrives back from China there will be less than three weeks until the Premier League kicks off and only two pre-season friendlies remaining.
Pete Graves via Twitter:
“I’m TOLD some key signings will follow new head coach announcement.
“Fully expect the “we don’t care” replies.
“But that’s what I’m led to believe.
“Clearly time is of the essence and pre-season is upon us.
“Nothing about this summer so far has been ideal preparation for Newcastle United.”
