Salomon Rondin has been confirmed as a Dalian Yifang player on Friday.

The Chinese club meeting the release clause of £16.5m that Mike Ashley had refused to do so, both last (2018) summer and this summer.

The striker joining up again with Rafa Benitez.

Over four months ago, Salomon Rondon went public (see below) in revealing he had met with NUFC officials and told them that he would love to stay and what needed to be agreed for that to happen.

However, Mike Ashley had zero interest in making any attempt to keep last season’s most productive individual (11 PL goals and 7 assists) and player of the year.

After completing his move to China, Salomon Rondon has released a personal emotional statement to fans.

He thanks the West Brom supporters but with his words for Newcastle fans it is obvious where he would really like to be playing this coming season…

Salomon Rondon releases personal statement via social media today:

“Today is the end of an incredible spell for me in the Premier League.

“During these past four seasons, I’ve seen my dreams come true, like scoring in some of the greatest stadiums in the world or hearing some of the most loyal supporters chant my name.

“In my final year, I was extremely lucky to be part of a very special club, where I really felt loved by the supporters and after putting in a lot of effort.

“I enjoyed one of my best seasons on an individual level and we achieved a good outcome as a team.

“Being Newcastle’s number 9 is certainly an honour that’ll always stay with me.

“I also feel very grateful to WBA for the affection from every single Baggie right from day one and for the opportunity the club gave me by bringing me to English football, which I today say goodbye to whilst knowing that the future in this sport is unpredictable and full of adventure.

“I’m beginning a challenge that really motivates me and that I’m really excited about as I become a Dalian Yifang player.

“I’m moving to a new country with a different culture, a growing league that’s increasingly attracting talented and quality players and above all, a club with a really ambitious project.

“Those who know me are aware that I’m taking this step full of new objectives to achieve and I am as always, really keen to continue to better myself, whilst giving my all for my new team, as I have always done.”

Salomon Rondon – 4 March 2019:

“They [Newcastle United/ Mike Ashley] know what I want and what my family want.

“I have spoken with them and made it clear.

“If there is an opportunity for me to be here, I will stay here 100%.

“If not I will say thank you to everybody and see what happens next.

“I don’t think so [when asked about claims that Newcastle had tried to make deal into permanent signing in January].

“I was focused on games in December and January, as there were many, many games.

“I have left it all to my agent.

“It’s a pleasure to be here and my family are settled and happy to be here, I play with the number nine on my back and it is a pleasure for me.

“I am still on loan but if I get to stay here then I’ll be at a beautiful place.

“If not I will say thank you and wish you all luck for the future.

“I love being here…being here is great for me, I am settled here.

“I will be trying to score more goals and then we will see what happens in the future, I’m only on loan so you never know what happens.

“If I could stay many years here I’d love to, I love wearing the number nine and scoring goals for the team.”
