Revealed how many Newcastle United Season Tickets are still unsold for new season (2019/20)

The Newcastle United season tickets went on general sale last Monday (15 July 2019).

Fans were stunned when in June they found out prices had gone up by 5%, this on top of Mike Ashley forcing people to pay up to 20% extra for their season tickets last Summer (2018).

Existing season ticket holder were only given three weeks to renew before the deadline passed and so at 10am last Monday (15 July), the Newcastle United season tickets that hadn’t been renewed (as well as those that went unsold last season) went on sale.

The club’s online ticketing website showed a map of St James Park, which allowed fans to pick their Newcastle United Season Tickets.

What that also allowed was somebody to then count up how many season ticket seats were still unsold…

This was the St James Park map, showing in green which areas you could buy a season ticket for last Monday.

The away areas (3,200 seats) in the Leazes End were showing as unavailable, as well as the Directors box and corporate areas.

However, everywhere else you could visit every section and see which seats were unsold.

I went around every section to total them up, you didn’t need to count the seats one by one, there was a total of unsolds for each section.

Though it still took plenty of time and patience…

This is what I found to be unsold as at 11am on Monday 15 July 2019.

Level 7 Milburn/Leazes

2,868 seats available

Rest of Milburn

2,239 seats available

Rest of Leazes

3,327 seats available

East Stand

1,999 seats available

2,980 seats available

By my calculations, there was a choice of 13,413 empty seats in season ticket areas. This includes seats that would eventually go on sale as match by match ones, which would still be the case, only a whole lot more of them…

This morning I repeated the exercise before match by match tickets went on sale today for Arsenal.

At 10am this morning (Monday 22 July) this is what was showing as still unsold.

The stats below are presented slightly differently in terms of the split of unsold season tickets (For example, tickets in Level 7 of the Milburn and Leazes stands are now shown below included as part of the totals for Milburn Stand, Leazes Stand and Leazes West Corner).around St James Park:

East Stand – 994 seats available

Gallowgate East Corner – 244 seats available

Gallowgate Stand – 2,161 seats available

Gallowgate West Corner – 588 seats available

Leazes Stand – 2,048 seats available

Leazes West Corner – 2,246 seats available

Milburn Stand – 2,225 seats available

Anyway, the new running total (at 10am on Monday 22 July 2019) of unsold season ticket seats was 11,408 (compared to 13,413 a week earlier). Indicating a maximum of 2,005 season tickets had been sold in that first week of going on general sale.
