Preston fans comments on Newcastle United are pretty disturbing after 2-1 win

Preston fans weren’t in the best of moods building up to Saturday’s match.

A need for new signings emphasised by Southampton strolling to a 3-1 win seven days earlier and then only scraping a 1-1 draw against Accrington Stanley in midweek.

A blunder by their keeper gifting Shelvey and Newcastle a lead at half-time hardly improved matters for the small crowd that had paid to watch their final friendly of pre-season.

A tale of three second-half penalties transformed the scoreline as Almiron failed but Gallager scored with his two spot-kicks.

By the final whistle, Preston fans were pleased to have won but very interesting to see what they had to say about the game and especially the opposition.

They were very realistic about their own team, still seeing the side as very limited and needing strengthening.

Whilst as for Newcastle United, you can read for yourself…

Preston fans commenting via their PNE Online message board:

‘Newcastle will be relegated by the end of March.’

‘Lets make no bones about this, Newcastle were terrible, lacked discipline with little or no creativity, if Davies is thinking of going there DON’T.’

‘Improved performance from North End but far from excellent. Thought Newcastle looked poor compared to Southampton.’

‘What really pi..es you off playing teams like Newcastle is a £40 million player wins them a penalty and a £21 million takes it (and misses it), goodness knows what the whole squad cost?

It’s quite understandable that Newcastle fans are often pi..ed off occasionally.

I dread to think what some of our fans would be like if we had 50,000 crowds, £150 million of TV money and won the sum total of fu.. all?’

‘I would be delighted to be in the Premier League since its formation (albeit two seasons, in which they won the league) and having had some brilliant players to watch and having nearly won the league in the past 20 years.

The “poor old Newcastle” sob story gets on my wick.’

‘I did have a soft spot for Newcastle but after reading some of their supporters comments about Preston, I hope they’re as good as relegated by Christmas and Ashley gives Bruce a contract extension for good measure to really pi.. ’em off.’

‘Joelinton looks a decent player but £40m…?’

‘Not sure a good result…our squad is too weak and this result will only gloss over that.’

‘For the Shelvey goal, when the whistle is blown, Rudd is leaning against his right hand post, behind the wall.

He then starts to move to his left, to what should be his side of the goal.

He cannot set himself properly, he dives past the ball and is lucky to get a hand to it.’

‘Dread to think how much that Muto gets payed a week, he was comically bad.’

‘That new 40million geezer has clobbered Gally three times; the last time Gally was clutching his ankle.’
