Newcastle United Takeover just another Mike Ashley PR stunt to keep Sports Direct in the headlines?
Work this one out…
Mike Ashley won’t sanction a move for Salomon Rondon because he is too old.
The supposed argument being that there will be no resale value and it is still the club’s policy regarding recruitment.
This is a proven striker and decent goalscorer who last season was Newcastle’s player of the year.
Yet he won’t even allow a bid to be made…
Surely, if Mike Ashley was going to sell the club he wouldn’t be bothered about his resale value following a three year contract, or the age of players, just so long as they keep Newcastle in the Premier League until a takeover actually goes through.
I don’t know what the average age is of this Newcastle United but it must be lower than many other Premier League clubs.
Does this mean Mike Ashley really is going to stick around for another three years and all this nonsense about the club being sold is just another PR stunt?
In other words, there is no such thing as bad publicity…
Sports Direct customers are worldwide, not just on Northumberland street.
Most of them support Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and so on, not Newcastle United.
It is hardly damaging the SD brand by keeping Newcastle and Sports Direct in the headlines every day.
