Newcastle United Takeover – Bin Zayed Group say public statement is ‘Incoming’

What is happening with the Newcastle United Takeover?

It is now 40 days since the newspaper exclusive first reported that the Bin Zayed Group (BZG) were taking over Newcastle United.

When two public statements were made by the BZG within days of the story breaking, it made Newcastle fans sit up and take notice.

Maybe this one was going to be different.

Newcastle United have continued to ‘no comment’ on the takeover story, although I don’t know if any of the journalists are even bothering to actually ask the question as time has gone on.

Whilst for the Bin Zayed Group, they have all stepped back from those early days of open communication. Although we have had a number of reports claiming contact with the BZG, short on quotes but with journalists reporting back that the Sheikh Khaled led bidders are adamant that this is going ahead.

One of those journalists in regular contact with the BZG is Peter Redding, he works as a sports presenter for UAE based Capital Radio, he also happens to be a Newcastle United fan.

On 1 July he reported that the Bin Zayed Group were still ‘buoyant’ about the Newcastle United Takeover going ahead and that they were still waiting for the Premier League to get back to them and give the green light, they told Peter Redding they hoped to be able to make a statement ‘in the next few days.’

We are now four days on and he has given another update:

Peter Redding on Twitter:

‘Contrary to some media outlets reporting there is no bid on the table, the Bin Zayed Group have stated this is “simply not true”.

‘Also pushed them on statement – “Incoming” was all I was told.

‘For the sake of all fans the two parties need to finalise this and communicate.’

With the total mess the club is now in, on and off the pitch, a takeover is looking  the only thing to prevent things really falling apart this time.

However, certainly when it comes to the short to medium-term, if a takeover is to happen then every day that passes is a nightmare, because there will be a massive job to get the management and squad in decent shape for this season ahead.

We are now already at the second day of pre-season as the players arrived back yesterday, eight days until the squad fly off to China, 34 days until the transfer window closes and 37 days until the season kicks off.
