My take on Steve Bruce…

I am not enamoured by the appointment of Steve Bruce as I feel he is a Championship manager.

However, Bruce is a Geordie and by all accounts a supporter, if so, will always have followed the club and so will know exactly what has gone on.

He is a close friend of Shearer, he told Bruce not to touch the job, so he will have told him all that is going on and probably stuff we don’t know.

Steve Bruce took the job against a good friend’s advice which shows he is his own man, or stupid, only time will tell.

By all accounts he is to be the lowest paid manager in the premiership but with very good bonuses, so he is not a mercenary coming just for the cash.

So why in God’s name has he took the job when 10 others didn’t?

Because he is a Geordie.

He will have passion.

He will want to succeed.

He knows the fans.

One of his best mates is Shearer.

He is fully aware of the owner’s history of lying but most of all he wanted it.

He resigned his fairly new job to come here and he will know that  if he succeeds the exultation he will receive.

So, I am not going to boycott, I will be patient and hope that the glove fits.

I am sure some fans will give him a difficult time.

I just hope he has the strength and will be able to ride the storm that is coming due largely to Rafa leaving.

However, I think I would rather have someone coming in with their eyes firmly open and who cares, than a new foreign manager (head coach…) who hasn’t a clue.
Having said all that, I’m still not sure.

I just have HOPE.
