Mike Ashley incredibly succeeding with Lee Charnley bluff yet again

Lee Charnley is doing a tremendous job…for Mike Ashley.

Quite incredibly, the Newcastle United owner is getting away with it once again.

Ashley is still getting criticism of course but quite amazing just how much is diluted/deflected thanks to Lee Charnley.

I find it comical and a very depressing that so many Newcastle fans are still falling for this.

Newcastle fans commenting on Lee Charnley on Twitter:

‘Eight days for Lee Charnley to do his job and sign some players for NUFC.

What a mess.’

‘Lee Charnley is doing a fantastic job getting our transfer business done this summer…’

‘Lee Charnley…

Better known as the man who cant get anything over the line.’

‘Lee Charnley is definitely the sort of bloke who would go into poundland and try and buy something for 30p.’

‘Lee Charnley is the worst negotiatior known to man why offer low wages thinking the players will accept such a paltry sum.’

‘Nowt baffling about it when fu..face penfold is doing deals, Lee Charnley is a joke.’

‘Lee Charnley haggling over a couple of million yet again? You just hate to see it.’

Don’t get me wrong, if one day we ever see the back of Mike Ashley, it will be a no-brainer for new owners to kick Lee Charnley straight out of the door after him.

Lee Charnley is part of the problem and not part of the solution, for sure.

However, he is NOT the reason Newcastle United are not signing players with the exception of Joelinton, this summer.

Charnley is very well paid by most standards but not by Premier League CEO/MD levels, he is paid to run the office along with his central job of soaking up/deflecting blame away from Mike Ashley. He has no authority, he has no power, e has no proper budget.

Lee Charnley is a messenger who follows orders, he is not the decision/deal maker on which this transfer window stands or falls.

Scouts and/or agents present transfer targets to Newcastle United and then agents help set up potential deals with the players and the other club(s).

It is laughable to suggest that Lee Charnley is the one that then decides how much Newcastle United are prepared to pay on wags and transfer fees.

Mike Ashley wants us to believe this of course but you’d have to be pretty naive to still believe ‘Yes I know Mike Ashley is the big villain but it is Lee Charnley who is to blame for these players not being signed.’

Ashley must be laughing his cheap white socks off that people still see Lee Charnley as the sticking point on transfers, I am also convinced that the NUFC owner saw it as a massive bonus that Charnley looks the part when he gave him the MD title. The bumbling buffoon who doesn’t have a clue.

Maybe it should be no surprise that Mike Ashley gets away with it.

Joe Kinnear was given the Director of Football role back in 2013, supposedly charged with overseeing new signings by the NUFC owner.

After two full transfer windows (summer 2013 and January 2014) without a single player bought, JFK then moved on.

To this day, some Newcastle fans amazingly still think it was Kinnear’s incompetence that prevented any players bought in, rather than the obvious, that JFK was employed purely to take that blame of no cash being spent on players.

You only need to stop and think logically about it.

If Mike Ashley had indeed employed Joe Kinnear to identify players that the club needed to bring in, do you not think when nobody was being bought week after week, month after month, that Ashley would have been all over JFK, demanding to know what was going on.

Likewise with Lee Charnley, all of those windows when Rafa Benitez was undermined and not able to bring in his first choice of signings, or make any deals early as he wanted, do you honestly think that Charnley was the big obstacle or indeed any kind of obstacle???

It is Mike Ashley – first, second. third and so on…

I have no doubt every single deal has to be signed off personally by Mike Ashley and if any offer is made by NUFC for a player, if it is knocked back and a different price quoted, it will be then sent back to him (Ashley) for approval.

It is Mike Ashley who is currently refusing to complete a deal for Stanley N’Soki, Allan Saint-Maximin and whoever else, it is not Lee Charnley who is deciding he won’t pay the wages and/or transfer fee.

I despise Lee Charnley for being such a willing sidekick/patsy for Mike Ashley but I don’t blame him for essential signings not being made, those decisions are above his pay grade pure and simple.
