Leicester fans have reacted to the news their club have had a £30m transfer fee agreed to buy Ayoze Perez.

It was reported early Tuesday evening that the Newcastle striker and his agent had been at the East Midlands club all day discussing the move.

Then late Tuesday night Sky Sports had ‘breaking news’ that a £30m transfer fee had been agreed.

Some media said that this was a release clause figure in Perez’ contract.

Sky Sports say that personal terms need to be finalised and then Ayoze Perez will have his medical.

After a summer of chaos, only days after Rafa Benitez left, Newcastle fans are set to see last season’s top scorer sold.

What do Leicester fans think though?

Judging by the comments below, they are overwhelmingly positive and whilst many see the £30m figure as high, they also tend to see it just as a fair reflection of the current transfer market.

One other thing shines through and that is a feeling of pity for Newcastle fans.

You truly couldn’t make this all up, when it comes to what Mike Ashley has done to our club.

Leicester fans comment via their Foxes Talk message board:

‘Feel for the newcastle fans to be honest, they are a great lot tbh, their club is toxic as hell and Mike Ashley is running it into the ground.’

‘Yep. Actually feel very sorry for them.

They’ve got unbelievable fans and surely for somebody wanting to invest, they are the perfect club.

Best owner v worst owner.’

‘Genuinely think Ayoze Perz will become a big fan favourite

Pleased with this big time.’

‘Another club (Newcastle) that feels toxic right now.

We are truly BLESSED with our owners.’

‘Not sure about 25-30m but obviously a player that Rodgers rates to be spending that.

Just as a guide though, sissoko went to spurs for 30m but was spread 6m over 5 windows so hopefully more like that.

Well done Ashley though!’

‘Considering he got 12 goals in a team that basically limited themselves to a handful of chances per game (to varying degrees of success), I’d say he’s got potential. He’s at a good age and knows the Premier League well by now too.’

‘Now just take lascelles to rub it in.’

‘Geordies on twitter seem to be in complete meltdown. I know it’s because they’re having a right time of it at the minute but it’s usually a good indicator. Gerrimin.’

‘This is a good signing and one I recommended a while back. He;s a proper player with an eye for goal.’

‘We paid £12.6m for Liverpool’s 9th choice goalie, paid £12.6m for Ghezzal when Monaco only wanted £5m and then paid £32m for 2 defenders we never considered worthy of replacing Maguire.

Sign a proven Prem player after his best season, with stats that tick all crucial areas we desperately need for £25-30m? Why would that be a) surprising or b) outrageous?

I guarantee if he had never played in the Prem but came from France or Spain having scores 13 in 40 from the wing that nobody would care about the price, and be excited.

Well happy with this.’

‘Obviously would prefer it to be as low a price as possible but if it’s £30m, it’s £30m.

Not only does he improve our starting 11 playing on the right but he enhances the depth we have in a number of other positions. Cracking signing.’

‘Mike Ashley needs the extra cash to pay for his Sports Direct warehouse workers’ wages accurately this time..’

‘£30million – Was thinking more closer to 20 to be honest but he is a very good player so would be happy to have him here.’

‘£30 Million… Yikes! Guess that is the going rate these days for a decent player though, especially from a fellow Premier League team.

Only 25 and his stats are good. Known for being hard working. He is better than we have in wide areas or as a second striker, so is a decent signing overall.

Certainly not a wow factor signing and definitely overpriced but by no means a bad signing either. Tielemans next please!’

‘He’s the albrighton upgrade. Can tackle more, score more and assist more. He’s a grafter with goals.’

‘20m plus is the going rate for a solid premier league option, is going to score goals at this level and with Tielemans will help us in our Top 6 challenge.’

‘Not really a fan of this move – don’t think he’s that good. For the record.’

‘I would class it (our formation) more as a 433 and Perez fits in there perfectly.’

‘30 mill seems a lot but I guess we know roughly what we’re getting, it’s not a stab in the dark like Slimani or Silva.’

‘Think it will be a solid signing, £30m seems a bit much perhaps that’s with all potential add-ons included .’

‘I think with VAR coming in next season it will change the game.

Naturally, players with close control get tackled more, and I think we will see a lot of decisions going their way when the previously wouldn’t.

I think this guy could be a great addition.’
