Lee Charnley declares “We will be fully prepared for the challenge of a new Premier League season”

Mike Ashley, Lee Charnley and other hidden Ashley minions, have now delivered us Steve Bruce.

The most disastrous appointment imaginable, with the possible exception of Dennis Wise.

Wednesday’ announcement confirming our worst fears.

As well as losing Rafa Benitez, making no attempt to keep last season’s two top goalscorers, making not a single signing AND putting season ticket prices up yet again, we are now landed with Steve Bruce.

Just as brazen as when he appointed Steve McClaren, Mike Ashley is making it official that Steve Bruce has absolutely no authority on anything important, by giving him the title of ‘Head Coach’ rather than manager.

In today’s announcement, what I think has been missed in the ‘excitement’ of the appointment, are the quotes attributed to the shameless Lee Charnley.

As well as the predictable guff about Steve Bruce, Lee Charnley actually has the nerve to say ‘…and we will be fully prepared for the challenge of a new Premier League season.’

Three weeks until the transfer window closes and the season starts, with not a single signing and depleted team and now Steve Bruce added to the mess…

Lee Charnley is wasted, he should be on the comedy circuit.

Lee Charnley;

“Steve has a deep affection for Newcastle United and we are very pleased that a coach with his vast experience and connections to the club and city has joined us.

“Steve knows what this club means to supporters and to the region and he will put his heart and soul into leading our talented group of players with the full support of our staff.

“The hard work for Steve and his team starts immediately and we will be fully prepared for the challenge of a new Premier League season.

“I would place on record my thanks to Ben Dawson, Neil Redfearn and our medical and support staff for the way in which they have worked together to oversee the start of our pre-season preparations.”
