Hating Mike Ashley more than loving Newcastle United?

How sad that some Newcastle supporters now seem to hate Mike Ashley more than they love the club.

Indeed, to the point where they would rather see United relegated than for Steve Bruce to succeed.

Am I alone in continuing to believe that you can dislike Mike Ashley and/or the manager but you have to support the team?

Rafa Benitez may be considered a world class coach but, in my view, his most masterly touch was to make people believe that he was a genius for getting them a few places above the relegation zone.

Contrast that with the gnashing of teeth and wailing at Arsenal, Chelsea or Spurs if they so much as slip out of the top five places.

Also, what did the players make of Rafa’s constant assertion that dodging relegation was the best we could expect of them?

More than a few supporters were not happy with his attitude that losing 1-0 away to the top six teams was better than trying to win.

Whilst let us remember that Benitez, like Mourinho, was a b & b manager ie with his home and family elsewhere.

At least we can expect Bruce to live in the region.

True, supporters should be prepared to see what fist Bruce makes of the job (and turn up at SJP).

Alas, the hyena pack of the media will already have decided that Bruce must fail and do their best to see that he does.

They believe there is more mileage for them in Bruce’s Goose Is Cooked headlines than Bruce Outshines Benitez.

With too many so-called fans only too happy to go along with that. What a shame.
