Confirmed Newcastle team v West Ham – Sorensen, Colback, Muto, Sterry, Clark all start
The Newcastle team v West Ham has just been confirmed.
Newcastle kicking off their second pre-season friendly on Saturday morning at 10am (UK time).
The game will be Steve Bruce’s first in charge but he can’t actively be involved as he doesn’t have a work permit for this visit to China.
This is once again only a friendly of course but all a bit frightening seeing this starting eleven put out today and the overall desperate nature of the squad.
What an absolute mess with only 19 days until the transfer window ends and three weeks until the Premier League kicks off.
Can they improve on that embarrassing performance and 4-0 defeat to Wolves on Wednesday?
Dwight Gayle isn’t included once again, with Steve Bruce revealing that he has a calf injury.
With 13 subs named it means two others are also missing from today’s team and bench.
Young keeper Nathan Harker is missing and also Paul Dummett, he was an unused substitute on Wednesday and clearly must have some kind of injury issue as well as Gayle.
Sean Longstaff was also an unused sub on Wednesday and interesting to see if he gets on the pitch today.
With Clark selected as well as Schar and Lascelles, it raises the possibility that they could kick off with Rafa’s favoured three/five at the back, with Ritchie at left wing-back.
This is who Steve Bruce starts with:
Dubravka, Sterry, Lascelles, Schar, Clark, Ritchie, Colback, Hayden, Shelvey, Muto, Sorensen
Darlow, Woodman, Manquillo, Fernández, Lazaar, Bailey, Watts, Ki, S. Longstaff, M. Longstaff, Murphy, Aarons, Allan
