Confirmed Newcastle team v Preston – Aarons, Longstaff, Woodman, Fernandez, Muto all start
The Newcastle team v Preston has just been confirmed.
Newcastle kicking off their third pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon at 3pm.
The game will be Steve Bruce’s first in charge on the touchline.
So far we have seen an embarrassing 4-0 hammering by Wolves over in China, which then saw improvement when beating West Ham 1-0 with a Muto goal.
Preston kick off their Championship season next weekend and so should give Newcastle a decent test this afternoon.
Both Joelinton and Almiron are on the bench, amongst the 14 subs named.
Many changes set to be made, potentially a whole different 11.
It is Matty Longstaff who starts and not brother Sean, who is one of the subs.
Notable absentees from the squad are Dwight Gayle who had a calf injury in China and presumably that continues to affect him.
Whilst no sign of Martin Dubravka as well.
This is who Steve Bruce starts with:
Woodman, Manquillo, Fernandez, Schar, Dummett, Ritchie, Hayden, Shelvey, (M) Longstaff, Aarons, Muto
Subs
Darlow, Clark, Ki, Lascelles, Murphy, Joelinton, Colback, Almiron, Sterry, (S) Longstaff, Sorensen, Cass, Watts, Allan
