A Sunderland fan has sympathy and a warning on exactly what awaits Newcastle with Steve Bruce
Just what the hell is wrong up your way?
You saw how much of a complete flop Steve Bruce was down the road with us, yet the fat controller still “gets his man.”
It has been mooted that he gave us our best Premier League finish for many years…but the facts are distorted.
He didn’t give us our best finish, the other teams around us did. They all dropped points in the final few games of the season as we huffed and puffed, scratching the odd point here and there.
(ED: As you can see from the final Premier League table of 2010/11 below, it was one of those seasons where it was really congested, Sunderland top of five clubs covered by one point, only five points ahead of 16th and indeed only eight points clear of 19th. Ironically, it was Newcastle who gifted Steve Bruce and Sunderland a freak top half spot, in the final game of the season Alan Pardew’s NUFC were leading 3-0, only for the Baggies to score three in the final 28 minutes. If Newcastle had won, then Pardew would have had a top half finish, not Bruce with Sunderland. Steve Bruce’s big moment due to Pardew’s incompetence, you couldn’t make it up!)
His favourite phase here was “we need to beef up the defence.” Now that actually said it all.
He bought a number of dead men walking six foot two starched clowns to play at the back and hoof it forward. He then relied on the energy of the forwards to chase the loose balls down.
This is what you are in for this season.
You simply MUST vote with your feet. This is all the fat controller will listen to.
You can call me a mackem this and that but I am actually saying it as it really is. I say this with all honesty and hand on heart.
I would rather be in the position we find ourselves languishing in, than where you are at this time.
Your loyalty cannot be questioned, but you have not yet bottomed out, and your hearts will be broken in two well before this whole saga finishes, UNLESS you vote with your feet.
Remember, it is always darkest just before the dawn. Good Luck, as I really believe you are going to need swathes of it.
