The leaked Premier League Fixtures actually proved correct in one respect
Every year we get ‘leaked’ Premier league Fixtures ahead of the official release.
In the modern day craving for attention, these ‘leaks’ quickly go viral, as fans are desperate for stuff to talk about ahead of the real thing.
Without fail, the leaks always turn out to be invented nonsense.
This time, on Wednesday an image circulated on social media (see below) claiming to be the opening set of Premier League Fixtures.
This morning at 9am the official Premier League Fixtures were released and on comparing it to the ‘leaked’ one.
Of the 10 predictions only one matches up, Bournemouth home to Sheffield United.
I’m assuming that if any of us had guessed on the opening weekend fixtures, getting one correct wouldn’t have been a shock.
However, whoever circulated the ‘leaked’ ones, was proved right in one respect.
For the first time ever, the Premier League Fixtures release has coincided with them confirming also which games are moved for live Live TV on that opening weekend.
Newcastle v Arsenal is one of five games moved for live TV, that to be played at St James Park on Sunday 11 August at 2pm (to see all Newcastle United fixtures for 2019/20 go HERE).
So those passing around the ‘leaked’ fixtures knew something but not quite enough!
The official/real opening weekend Premier League Fixtures:
The article on The Mag about the ‘leaked’ Premier League Fixtures – Wednesday 12 June 2019:
It is that time of year once again, the release of the Premier League fixtures.
At 9am tomorrow (Thursday 13 June 2019) we will be able to plan the next year of our lives.
At least in terms of what order in which we play the other 19 PL clubs home and away, with changes wrought by the demands of broadcaster changing many of the original dates and/or times.
In recent years, it has also become a tradition to in advance of the official release, to have the annual ‘leaking’ of the Premier League fixtures.
Earlier today we have seen the 2019/20 ‘leaking’, which is a little bit more elaborate (See below) this time.
An image circulating on the internet, claiming to show the Premier League fixtures on the opening day of the season.
The image including Premier League branding and more bizarrely, even claiming knowledge of which games have been picked for TV.
Whilst this leak claims Newcastle are travelling to play at Everton still at 3pm on the Saturday (10 August), it has five of the other games moved for TV with different dates and/or times.
All very dubious, especially when the first set of live TV games (August and September matches) aren’t made known until the first week in July usually, at the earliest.
