Moussa Sissoko slated by French media after Turkey stroll

Moussa Sissoko has been slaughtered by the French media after Saturday’s match.

He and central midfield partner Paul Pogba particularly singled out after their non-performance against Turkey.

The hosts won with two first half goals but it could have been far far better (for Turkey) and worse for France.

Lloris was the visitors man of the match as he made some excellent saves, in contrast, France didn’t have a single shot on target (Turkey had six).

L’Equipe led the way with the criticism, Moussa Sissoko and Paul Pogba each getting two out of ten, less than anybody else in the starting front six, as they completely failed to drive the Didier Deschamps team forward.

France had lost only one of their previous twenty games, none of which Moussa Sissoko had started.

Indeed, whilst the midfielder was regularly involved with his national team when playing for Newcastle, since his £30m move to London it has ironically gone downhill.

The first three months at White Hart Lane in the 2016/17 season  saw Moussa Sissoko still in favour with France, indeed he made as many starts (four) for his country in that time as he did Premier League starts for Tottenham.

However, these next 27 months up to Saturday had seen only one more start by Sissoko for France and that was a feeble 2-1 defeat to Sweden.

France are lucky in that they play Andorra on Tuesday so are sure to bounce back with a win. Interesting to see if Moussa Sissoko is persevered with after Saturday’s dismal 90 minutes?
