Lack of Newcastle United Takeover communication shown up by Sunderland owner

Like the rest of you, this Newcastle United Takeover is taking up far too much of my time.

Difficult to concentrate on work and the same when spending ‘quality’ time with the wife and kids.

Constantly checking social media to see if it has happened.

If I’m like this now, God only knows what I’ll be like if/when it actually goes through and Mike Ashley becomes history.

The immediate partying and subsequent hangover will take some getting over, never mind then your mind running riot thinking of all the things that could be possible (not guaranteed).

On Tuesday I had an article published by The Mag, it was ‘No justification for the no comment from Mike Ashley on Newcastle United Takeover’…

Now no rational person expects to be fed detail after detail, day after day, as to what is/isn’t happening with this Newcastle United Takeover and what is happening generally/overall at the club.

However, there is a whole lot of scope between that and saying absolutely nothing.

When my article went up on here yesterday, one of my Mackem mates happened to see it and he pointed me towards something Sunderland owner Stewart Donald had coincidentally put out in the public domain yesterday as well.

It has been widely reported that a Sunderland takeover is also imminent, with a new majority shareholder(s) and Stewart Donald keeping a small percentage of shares.

Stewart Donald replying to a concerned Sunderland fan via his personal Twitter account:

“Potential investment is moving along albeit either way we are able to move club forward at the present time.

“It will not stop any signings from progressing and we are working on targets.

“I am sure there will be news soon on players we know we need to keep improving the squad.”

As I said yesterday in my article, we realise we can’t be privy to intimate details of negotiations/progress regarding the Newcastle United Takeover.

However, no reason whatsoever why the club/Mike Ashley couldn’t put out something along the lines of following, to calm/reassure people that as well as the takeover potentially happening, that measures are being taken regardless to ensure that the manager’s position and summer recruitment are being addressed:

“With regard to recent media coverage about a potential takeover of Newcastle United, we can confirm that talks have taken place with various parties.

“We can confirm that talks have progressed significantly with one of these parties and we are hopeful that this could progress to a sale of the football club.

“We would like to assure all of our supporters that whatever happens, plans are in place and being worked on now, so that the team and football club will be ready for the challenges of the new season, no matter what the outcome of these talks.

“The club can also confirm that discussions are ongoing with Rafa Benitez, with regard to the manager agreeing a new contract that would enable him to continue his excellent work at St James Park.

“We will bring you a further update as soon as we are able to.”
