Joselu transfer to La Liga now just waiting to be formally announced – Report

The move of Joselu back to La Liga is imminent according to Spanish media on Monday.

With Mundo Deportivo saying that a formal announcement is only being  held up thanks to waiting for ‘legal deadlines’ to pass.

For some weeks now the Spanish media have been reporting (see below) a move for Joselu to Alaves as a guaranteed transfer.

He has one year left on his contract at Newcastle but is clearly on his way out of St James Park, no matter who owns the club or manages the team.

The transfer fee has been previously reported as being 2m euros (£1.8m) for the 29 year old and Newcastle fans live in hope that this could be shortly part of significant transfer action in and out of the club.

La Liga doesn’t kick off until a week after the Premier League does, so plenty of time for Joselu to complete his move in advance of the pre-season preparations starting at Alaves.

The Mag – 7 June 2019:

Coverage has been growing in the Spanish media as Joselu is set to return to La Liga.

His time at Newcastle United up after only only one Premier League start in the past nine months.

With only a year left on his NUFC deal and needing to find another club, Thursday saw various Spanish newspapers and online sites reporting that he will very shortly be joining Alaves.

This followed around ten days of intermittent reporting on the transfer set to happen.

Monday saw Lucas Perez join Alaves from West Ham, a striker that Newcastle were allegedly chasing throughout the 2017 summer transfer window, before ‘chose’ to go for £5m Joselu…

These past three seasons have seen 30 year old Lucas Perez score 13 league goals for Arsenal, Deportivo and West Ham, so if he is paired with Joselu then La Liga defences had better watch out!

The signing of Perez means Alaves still only have 15 contracted players after a number of departures, especially lacking up front and in midfield.

Sergio Fernandez is the La Liga club’s Director of Football and Spanish newspaper Marca now report that Joselu is going to be the next signing through the door.

They say their information is that the 29 year old will be signing a three year contract with Alaves.

In order to get regular football they add that Joselu has agreed to take a pay cut on his Newcastle wages in order that Alaves can afford the signing.

As for transfer fee, there will be one!

Marca say that they understand Newcastle United will recoup £1.8m (5m euros) of the £5m they paid to Stoke two years ago.
